Swedish fashion designer Fannie Schiavoni. The project is now the
focus of a three month exhibition in Japan at the Diesel art gallery.

Murakami

Rihanna by Simon Henwood

This book traces the campaign for Rated R. It features all my designs
and concepts from the initial logo design to the world tour. The
photographs i took were while traveling around with her. There are
also some photo shoots and live concert pictures.
The Henwood Library is now publishing limited editions from the
archive. These are the first two books. There for the grace of God is
a selection from my archive of original large format negatives of
actors from the 1960’s. A cast of unknown’s and the source for a
series of paintings I produced a few years ago under the same title.
The second book features an interview and photographs I took of Edward
Gorey in 1995 at his home in the Cape Cod. The book is published on
the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the artist’s death.

Berend Strik – Thixotropy

I see Berend Strik as a painter, one that dose not touch paint or
brushes. Like Richter he is challenging both painting and photography.
He layers the image with painters eye and adjusts the light and
texture like a painter. So in my mind that is what he is.
I consider Berend a friend so I know he might let me get away with
this statement, but I want him to start announcing this himself
because Painting would have a new champion – something as a medium it
dearly needs.
This is an early piece of Berend’s. It’s so dense and almost abstract
– it’s like his Leon Kossoff period!! Sorry Berend.

From Fashion and back by Hussein Chalayan

This small edition is a great taster of the work of this great fashion
designer. A large edition on his work is due out later this year from
Rizzoli. I recently designed a dress for Rihanna inspired by Hussein’s
laser dress, which I also borrowed for her Rated R shoot, but was
never used in the campaign. (See picture of my led dress from the Last
Girl on Earth Tour)

Dead or Alive by David Revere McFadden and Lowery Stokes Sims

This is an incredible exhibition I recently visited in New York. The
outstanding piece for me was the cube of flies pictured. Each insect
is carefully threaded and suspended to create this hanging sculpture.
